Do Lennie and George have fun together and do they trust each other?
  • They have fun together when they discuss their future- " 'We will have a big vegetable patch and rabbits and chickens' ".
  • They argue a lot- " 'God a'mighty, if I was alone I could live so easy".

  • George is the dominant partner in the friendship. He appears more mature, responsible and cognitively superior than Lennie. " 'Lennie for God's sake don't drink so much".
  • Parent/ child-like relationship- Lennie only remembers what he has to do when George threatens the removal of the rabbits- " 'Good boy! That's fine Lennie!' ".
  • Use of foreshadowing to imply that Lennie will get in trouble- " 'if you just happen to get in trouble like you always done before' ".
