Is Social Media as Bad as it Seems?

The term ‘Social Media’ has only been around since the 1990s. And perhaps because the term is so young, we talk about it like it's a very recent phenomenon, something that we can just turn on and off with a switch. But social media is much deeper. It began the day our ancestors began wandering across the continents 100,000 years ago, and has been expanding in lockstep with our dense networks of transportation, energy and communications that connect all the continents, nations, cities and communities of the world.   Social media has withstood every pandemic, every world war, the Crusades and financial crises. And if you look at the continuous expansion in the flows of people, of technology, of capital, of data, you can only conclude that social media is just getting warmed up. So let's not even begin to debate whether or not globalization is our future.   Do you remember the so-called anti-social media protests of the late 2012s and early 2013s? Maybe it's for the Better

Maybe it’s for the better Maybe your sadness will change for better And you’ll wake up different You feel crushed but you stay on your feet You’re exhausted? So what? What’s the World other than grief? And if what had passed had been heartbreak I’m sure happiness comes next Don’t cry for those who left And focus on what’s here To hell with them You’ve had your share of pats on the back? Hobbies and Habits Emerging

The idea of maintaining hobbies is a recent phenomenon, and because the term is so young, we talk about it like it can be contained. Controlled. But hobbies are much deeper. They articulate in the subconscious mind, around the things we like, and our daily lives. We are unaware of this, but some of our activities evolve into hobbies, in which some habits become more favourable than others.  For example, an art student's hobbies would tend to be either drawing or painting. A chef's hobbies would be cooking a meal or baking a cake. Hobbies drive our decisions.  In today's society, there is a continuous expansion in the flow of people, technology and energy. Therefore, it is extremely important to have a hobby that takes your mind off things and to do something that you utterly enjoy. Hobbies help you to develop a good, healthy mindset, especially today during the quarantine period and the hostile news we read every day. The other side of the argument may protest that hobbies ...
